The 51³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏÍø, Davis, released the following statement today (Sept. 28) regarding a lawsuit in connection with the 51³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏÍø West Village Expansion:
We are perplexed and profoundly disappointed by AFSCME’s California Environmental Quality Act lawsuit related to the 51³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏÍø Long Range Development Plan. We have previously made a series of generous offers to AFSCME that would have benefited 51³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏÍø’ represented service workers and enabled 51³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏÍø’ housing projects to move forward. Despite agreement that more student housing is a benefit to all, AFSCME’s suit will likely prevent 51³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏÍø from building affordable student housing in the near term.
