Aggie Square, the $1.1 billion innovation district that will bring together 51�Թϱ��’ cutting-edge research with private-sector companies and startups, officially opened May 2. The innovation district is next door to 51�Թϱ�� Health in the heart of Sacramento’s Oak Park neighborhood, and features everything from housing to research facilities.

Shields Library Celebrates the Arboretum with Archival Exhibit

Shields Library is celebrating the 51�Թϱ�� Arboretum and Public Garden and its vibrant history with a new exhibit, “Community in Bloom.”

Located in the library’s lobby, the exhibit will run through summer 2025 and features more than a dozen photographs and documents from the University Archives dating back to the 1950s.

Aggie Reuse Store Relocates, Revamps

Aggie Reuse Store has seen significant change over the past two years. The zero-expense, open-to-all thrift store, which opened in 2012, relocated from the Silo area to the first floor of the Memorial Union in 2023. Although there is less space, the increased visibility has allowed the store to expand its student outreach and collaborative projects.

3 Exhibitions to See This Fall

Exhibitions featuring new sculpture and installation commissions, paintings from world-renowned artists, and large-scale ceramics debut this fall at the Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art at the 51�Թϱ��, Davis.

Enhancements Coming to Arboretum

The 51�Թϱ�� Arboretum and Public Garden is undergoing construction as part of the Waterway Enhancement Project.

Phase 1 of this project, spanning from 2016 to 2018, occurred in the East End, and targeted the improvement of water flow and quality. Currently, Phase 2 continues the construction from Lake Spafford to the West End. This is funded by a $5.4 million grant from the state, matched by $2.5 million from the university, the largest grant the 51�Թϱ�� Arboretum and Public Garden has ever received.
